Customer Impact Statement
- Changed behaviour of the TIPPING Continue button could confuse users initially
The on-screen Continue button in TIPPING is now always clickable (behavior change). If staff were trained under the old config-based rule, retraining may be needed.
Features
- Support for Terminal Model C20
Added support for the new terminal model C20, Westpay’s first payment device designed from the ground up to fully comply with the requirements of the new Accessibility Act. - Enhancements for the TIPPING Screen Continue Button
Enhancements have been introduced for the Continue button on the TIPPING screen:- The button appears in blue when no tip option is selected.
- Once a tip option is selected, the button changes to green with the text "Pay with Tip."
The button text can be configured via terminal functions, with the following options available: "Continue" or "No Tip."
- Discretionary Data for Refunds
Discretionary data is now included in refund requests sent to the host, enabling additional contextual information to be transmitted with each refund transaction. - Online Mode
Introduced a new mode called Online, which allows the terminal to use the OnlineAPI alongside any other PAaS application simultaneously on the same terminal. - Terminal Sounds
New sounds have been introduced, and some existing sounds have been updated to improve user feedback during key actions. The new sounds are triggered in the following scenarios:- When starting the terminal and launching the Payment Application
- When a transaction is approved
- When a transaction is declined
- When a contactless transaction falls back to card insertion
- When a contactless transaction falls back to PIN entry
- When a transaction requires further action to proceed
Improvements
- Behaviour of the TIPPING Screen Continue Button
The behaviour of the Continue button on the TIPPING screen has been updated. Previously, the click ability was controlled through a terminal configuration. Now, the Continue button is always clickable on all terminal models and is no longer configurable. - TIPPING Screen Close Button
On terminals with a physical keypad, the on-screen Close button has been removed. Users can now use the red button on the physical keypad to close the screen instead. Language Selection Menu in Payment Application
The language selection menu in the Payment Application (PA) has been redesigned. All language change options have been consolidated into a single, unified design. Users can now configure both the default terminal language and the default PA menu language.
Fixes
- Card Reader Handling with APM Requests
Resolved an issue where the card readers remained enabled after the ECR sent a Start Alternative Payment Method (APM) request to the terminal. The card readers now properly disable when an APM request is initiated. - Re-enable Service with Card Inserted
Resolved an issue where the terminal froze and failed to re-enable the card readers if a card was already inserted when the Enable Service request was re-sent from the ECR. - Payment Application Updates via Terminal IDs (PPL)
Addressed an issue where the terminal did not restart automatically after a Payment Application (PA) update when the System Service attempted to handle the restart process. - PIN Prompt Handling
Resolved an issue where the terminal prompted for a PIN for every transaction, regardless of the Cardholder Verification Method (CVM) limit. The terminal now correctly follows the CVM rules. - Volume Controller in System Functions
Previously, the volume controller in the Payment Application menu did not function as expected. This issue has now been resolved. Users can adjust the terminal volume through the Payment Application menu, and this applies to some selected sounds in the terminal. - Missing Language Translations and Text Corrections
Addressed missing translations in the Payment Application and corrected several Norwegian texts. Updates include:- No tip → Ingen tips
- Tip amount → Angi tipsbeløp
- Would you like to add tips → Vil du legge til tips?
Known Issues
- Encrypting PIN Pad (EPP) Reset
An intermittent issue, present in the terminals for several years, sometimes causes the EPP reset to fail. When this happens, the terminal cannot start the card readers or process transactions. Restarting the device fixes the problem.
